The introduction of titanium dioxide whisker

Titanium dioxide whiskers, the titanium dioxide production with needle-like shape, made synthetically. The chemical formula and crystal structure of titanium dioxide whiskers the same as titanium dioxides, the chemical properties of both were much the same. But the physical properties, such as optical properties, mechanical properties and thermal properties were greatly different.

The titanium dioxide whiskers have two crystal forms, they were Rutile and Anatase，both of them belonged to tetragonal system, the crystal system was same, but the crystal form and crystal habit were different. The Rutile was acerose and coupled twinborn crystal, every Rutile unit cell contained by two TiO2 numerators, connected with two edges. But the Anatase was octahedron, the oxygen atom was located in the apex angle of octahedron, every Anatase unit cell contained by two TiO2 numerators, which connected with eight edges.The Anatase could change into Rutile at certain temperatures.

In fact, the titanium dioxide whiskers were prepared by powdery Rutile or Anatase titanium dioxide. They have all properties of Rutile and Anatase titanium dioxide, meanwhile, they have excellent physical properties that Anatase titanium dioxide were not having. The titanium dioxide whiskers were used to ceramics and rubber-based material could improve enhancement greatly. The rubber items with titanium dioxide whiskers have better mechanical properties and longer useful life.
